What is Vedic Meditation?

Vedic Meditation is a simple yet powerful mental technique designed to systematically de-excite the mind and bring the body into a deeply rested state. By gently guiding the mind into this state of profound relaxation, this practice naturally allows the body to release built-up accumulated stress, shifting the physiology from fight-or-flight to a state of calm yet energized engagement. Practiced for 20 minutes twice a day (once in the morning and once sometime in the afternoon/evening), Vedic Meditation offers the ability to access an infinite source of energy to meet the demands and changes of life, the ability to respond to the need of the time with ever increasing ease and efficiency, and a sense of “happy for no dang reason,” aka 24-hour bliss.

Vedic Meditation is unique among other meditation practices. The meditation begins with the spine supported in a comfortable sitting position when a bija (seed) mantra (mind-vehicle) is employed at the thinking level to facilitate a state of deep rest beyond ordinary thought. This means that instead of resisting thoughts and trying not to think, we effortlessly allow the mind to do what it naturally does and let the mantra and technique do all the work while we experience settling into a profound state of stillness. This deep restorative state promotes a sense of order within both body and mind, activating the body's natural healing mechanisms and fostering physical and mental well-being at the cellular level. As stress is released, meditators notice increased energy, improved mood, enhanced creativity, better sleep, and enhanced cognitive function. Regular practice also brings benefits such as heightened productivity, increased adaptability, and a sense of supreme contentedness, leading to higher value experiences and enhanced overall well-being.

Rooted in an ancient tradition from the Himalayas of Northern India, Vedic Meditation has been passed down for thousands of years in an unbroken lineage. This simple yet powerful technique can be practiced by individuals of all backgrounds and experience levels, fitting seamlessly into any busy schedule. It is suitable for beginners, busy individuals, and those seeking more depth in their existing practices.
